sad
Funny, this question people ask me here, when I meet them first: "Jól érzed magad itt Magyarországon?"
They mean: me, as an individual.
I used to answer "Yes sure".
But no, I can not be happy here, when I see how women are treated in this country.
Like an adjuvant, a subaltern, a being "apart" not to be taken too seriously, a commercial good, or a sex pet.
Maybe some nigerian women - unhappiest country in the world according to a recent survey- would think women are very lucky in Hungary - there is no war, the survival rate of young children is about 90%, they have tab water, they are not raped on a daily basis, they can eat.
I don't consider them as lucky.
I remember, 1 or 2 years ago, there was an add for chicken - in the streets-, showing a fully naked woman sitting in the position of a chicken ready to be cooked, with the legs and arms folded.
Hungarians find it acceptable - and furthermore, obviously "selling"- to compare a woman to a meat, not as a joke, but as a direct pictural identification of woman= chicken = farmed meat = raised in order to be killed, cooked, eaten and nothing else.
I find it offensive.
I find it sad.
I find it sad, that the image of a woman's body could be used such a way. I find it sad that it could be used at all, in fact.
... And I leave aside the question of physical, not only symbolic use of women.
I was reading an Amnesty international report about victims of sexual abuse here: 19th century -Victims treated as criminals.
http://www.amnesty.org/fr/library/asset/EUR27/003/2007/fr/22863d6a-d39a-...
...
I mean, what is the solution for living in THIS world?
Shit! I still don't have it!
